Macy "Mace" Vaughn is the firstborn and the eldest daughter of a mortal man named Dexter Vaughn and a powerful witch named Marisol Vera. She is the oldest sister of the Vera-Vaughn Charmed Ones, meaning that she has to protect innocents and vanquish evil. This made her the older maternal half-sister of Melanie Vera and the older sister of Margarita Vera. Macy is also the wife of a Whitelighter, Harry Greenwood, the ex-girlfriend of the late Julian Shea and the late Galvin Burdette. She used to be the lab supervisor in Hilltowne University's Department of Genetics before forcefully being moved to Seattle, Washington, and left in hiding. Having been separated from her sisters for most of her life, Macy was still learning where she fit within the Vera family and what it meant to be a part of a sisterhood.

Powers and Abilities

Basic Powers:
  • Spell Casting: The power to cast spells and perform rituals.
  • Potion Making: The power to brew and concoct potions, remedies, and elixirs that have supernatural properties.

Witch Powers:
  • Telekinesis - As a witch, Macy possessed telekinetic abilities enabling her to levitate and manipulate living beings and inanimate objects with her mind. Macy was able to use her telekinesis to various effects and has been able to deviate certain magical energies and objects, fire telekinetic force bolts, stop/restart a person's heart, and telekinetically strangle someone. She had been shown to channel this power through her hands and her eyes, though she mainly channelled it through her hands.
    • Advanced Telekinesis: After being placed into "witchness protection" in "Safe Space", Macy was stripped of her aura which caused her to lose her telekinetic powers. Eventually, she was able to restore her telekinetic powers to an advanced degree using black amber in "Breaking the Cycle". When her telekinesis was restored by the chalice of pure black amber, she moved all the leaves in the room, stimulating even the air molecules to create a circular motion of all the tree leaves. In "Sudden Death", Macy's control is shown to have grown a bit rusty, as when she tries to summon a bowl of sage from the porch and accidentally sends several objects flying at her that were a considerable distance away from her in the house. It appears that, now that her telekinetic abilities are in their advanced form, Macy can move objects a great distance away from her. By "Third Time's the Charm", she can move singular objects and beings again.
    • Telekinetic Energy Generation: As Macy gains her advanced form of telekinesis, she also gains the ability to generate fields of telekinetic energy to immobilize beings and release energy beams through her hands. She continues to use this ability effectively as long as she concentrates, which has improved as shown in "Yew Do You" when she was able to hold back her sisters while she was hypnotized by Omon.
    • Telekinetic Immobilization: As a result of her advanced form of telekinesis, Macy is now able to project a field of telekinetic energy that can immobilize beings. Macy's power can effectively immobilize large crowds of people but for a short amount of time. However, in "You Can't Touch This", she was able to hold Chupa-Alma long enough for Maggie to incept calmness into the monster.
    • Energy Beam Emission: Another result of her advanced form of telekinesis, Macy is now able to generate beams of telekinetic energy. In "Yew Do You", Macy uses this ability for the first time against her sisters as she is hypnotized by the ancient magical being Omon before she can concentrate long enough to break from his control and free her sisters.
    • Telekinetic Force Bolts: Macy can fire telekinetic force bolts from her hands that are strong enough to throw someone a considerable distance, as seen when she hurled Harry out of a room and into a wall.
    • Telekinetic Shields: Macy can work at the molecular level, creating shields in the air around herself to deflect bullets or create power fists and kicks, a strike that delivers three times the power of a normal punch.
    • Telekinetic Blast: the ability to generate a large amount of energy which allows the user to move subjects. Macy generated telekinetic waves from the palm of her hand to throw a demon against a wall.
  • Teleportation: Macy can generate a teleportation field about herself with which she transports herself and other people or objects across continental distances at a rate of 30 miles per second. Apparently, she must specifically know any location to which she teleports herself to do so.
  • Portal Creation: Macy can create teleportation warps, appearing as blinking holes, outlined with neon pinkish-purple light. She can use these warps on people or objects and has transported them across dimensional distances with great difficulty. She can also open teleportals, passing only her hand through them to grab objects nearby. When Macy’s portals close, they dissipate into pinkish-purple sparks before blinking out of existence.

Demonic Powers:
  • Limited Shapeshifting: Macy could change her eye colour when her demonic side took over, either glowing red or the entire eyeball would turn black.
  • Pain Resistance: A new demonic trait that has thickened her skin and frayed her nerves, dulling her pain receptors.
  • Voice Manipulation: Whenever Macy is overwhelmed by her demon side, her voice will deepen and sound more threatening.
  • Demonic Translation: While looking through books, Macy found that she can read Illevaihcam (also known as the Devil's Tongue).
  • Pyrokinesis: Macy awakened the ability to project fire from her hand. According to Harry, this ability stems from Macy's demon nature. She at first had little control over it and did not know what triggered the power when she used it to protect Mel from a Rat Demon, but since had learned how to consciously use it, even in a defensive manner. She is now able to project streams of fire and seems to have complete control over this ability.
Inactive Powers
  • The Power of Three: The bond and connection between Macy and her sisters, known as the Charmed Ones, who are said to be the most powerful trio of witches. Macy and her sisters used their powers to protect innocent lives and vanquish demons, often invoking their joint "Power of Three" to defeat their enemies. Certain spells require the Power of Three and cannot be cast by even the most powerful witches, like Charity Callahan. In "Safe Space", since the Charmed Ones' powers were stripped when they went through the portal to the Command Center, the Power of Three became ineffective as well until a retired Elder named Celeste managed to help them reclaim the Power of Three in "Third Time's the Charm".
    • Resistance: Presumably through the Power of Three, the Charmed Ones can resist the effects of having their memory erased to a certain extent, allowing the memories to slowly bleed back through. Since Macy was a Charmed One at the time, the effects of Charity's memory wipe were not effective and the memories kept coming back.
    • Immunity: Being a witch, Macy is inherently immune to certain magical abilities (e.g. the Sirens' songs and Pixie Dust).

Abilities
  • Scientific Knowledge: Macy has an aptitude for science and possesses great knowledge of a range of scientific fields, though she favours biology due to her being a geneticist. Macy can use her scientific knowledge to understand the biology of certain demons and to exploit their weaknesses.
  • Baking: Macy has a fondness for baking and knows several recipes such as cookies, shortbread, and even soufflé. She was able to use this hobby of hers to bake cookies with a high enough sugar ratio to cause a reaction within the Harbinger of Hell.
  • Singing: During a flashback in "Don't Look Back in Anger", Macy was revealed to be a fairly good singer and, according to her father, she even considered majoring in music in college.

Weaknesses
  • Shellfish Allergy: Macy possesses an allergy to shellfish.
  • The Ibi: Due to being resurrected with demon blood by the Necromancer Knansie, Macy gained a demonic side that was dormant until her witch powers were awoken. This demonic side caused Macy's powers to become dark, as well as her personality.
  • Mortality: Despite being a witch, Macy was still mortal and still had many of the same weaknesses as non-supernatural humans (e.g. age, decapitation, disease, heart failure, suffocation, snapped neck, etc.), until her death.
  • The Destruction of the Sisterhood: Despite the Power of Three being one of her greatest strengths, it is also a burden. Being a Charmed One, she and her sisters were susceptible to the cycle of the sisterhood's destruction, where one Charmed One of each generation dies of unnatural causes due to the Power of Three Ultimately, Macy sacrificed herself by drinking poison but the right time drinking a healing potion what she made couple hours before to avoid the cycle of the sisterhood's destruction end.
Former Weaknesses
  • Allergy: Macy and her sisters developed the allergy when they merged the Source with the Black Amber tree, which blew open the door to the Tomb of Chaos. Because of a security measure, whoever opened the tomb was cursed with an allergy to make them unable to touch magical beings. They were cured of the allergy when Macy invented the Allergy Cure derived from DNA from Mel's unborn future daughter.
